In February 1984, in a move unpopular with many, 50007 was renamed "Sir Edward Elgar" to mark the 50th anniversary of the composer's death. At the same time the loco was repainted in a green GWR style, a livery in which it can still be seen today at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley.
